Athlete focus: Big shoes to fill

Josiah Davis chose to play basketball because he grew up with brothers, Jeremiah and Akil, who like the sport. Before coming to Armijo, he played on another team, but he has been all about Armijo for the past three years. His other team won many championships in basketball and he continues to enjoy the game, so much so that he doesn’t play any other sports. His most memorable game at Armijo was one of the times the Indians went against the Rodriguez Mustangs and Armijo won. He loved the large crowd and the energy of that game.

He enjoys playing for Armijo but said that, if he could change anything about the school, he would like to see it become more peaceful. In fact, if he had his way, Davis would like to continue playing basketball, first in college and later as a professional in the National Basketball Association (NBA). For others, he encourages them to pursue whatever sport they want. “Don’t get distracted by anything and stay focused on the sport you are really into,” he said.

Another thing that Davis is really into is collecting shoes. He has several pairs that he is proud of, for what they are worth as well as what he has accomplished while wearing them.
