Diego Vasquez doesn’t live with his mother or father. Instead, eight months ago he came to the United States from Guatemala so that he can have a better life and he gets to live with his cousin and his uncle. Even though he’s away from his home country, he still enjoys listening to Mexican music.

It’s not easy leaving everything you are familiar with behind and Vasquez misses his family, “especially my mom,” he said. However, it helps that he is at a school where things are good. He said that he likes everything about Armijo, although he has yet to join any clubs or participate in any sports.

He’s not sure what he wants to do after he graduates. He might go to college, but he knows that, if nothing else, he will definitely work hard. He hopes to go back to Guatemala someday, perhaps to live, but definitely to see his family.
