Over the last few weeks, a mural was added outside of A-1. It’s very colorful and
it fits well with the hall considering that’s where the language classes are.
The mural has an Aztec theme with authentically designed figures, tying together
the Spanish classes in a visual display. The characters are holding spears and shields
and their standing over what looks like water which has squids, dragons, and fish in it.
This is not the only artwork on the school walls. Years ago, there were faces and
inspirational quotes that decorated the drama building. Not too long ago, art teacher Ms.
Jennifer Hobbs created a beautiful painting on the outside of that band room. Other
artwork on campus includes the art work all along the pavement outside of the halls
which have different colors and themes in each different box, a tradition among the
seniors from year to year.
This Aztec mural provides a level of diversity that stands out and the fact they
chose such a unique art style that sets it apart from other art on campus.
When seeing the mural, one can tell it was made with the basic materials
needed, starting with a careful base and slowly highlighted in paint. The paint gives the
mural a vibrant and smooth look. The mural is special for its creative display and unique
style and it’s nice that the mural was made just for A Hall. Those without language
classes are encouraged to stop by and admire the creative addition to the environment.
