Samantha “Sam” Burzynski is a senior and, if people at Armijo think that her last name is familiar, they usually make the connection with her uncle, Leadership adviser Mr. Brad Burzynski. That is, until this year when her brother Jakob started attending Armijo.

It has been a while since they shared a campus, but the teen Burzynskis did back in elementary school. They spent less time together then, though, because they had different recesses. Now that they share Leadership class – and it is under the authority of their uncle – it gives them a chance to work together. This isn’t always a good thing for Jakob. “I get to kick him into shape,” said Sam. “It sucks having to drive him to school every day and he always wants to go home.”

While the brother and sister duo do argue a lot, they also rely on each other. The only time they argue is when one is lazy or late. “I love my sister but, she always acts like a mom,” Jakob said. “At the first day of school she told me not to hang out with her.” The only thing that they hate is that teachers think Mr. Burzynski is there dad.

They agree that they can both be annoying to each other. Sam is mom-like annoying, according to Jakob, while she finds it annoying when he doesn’t pay attention and takes things from her.

Despite the issues that they have with each other, they do have some similarities and can agree on some of their preferences. They both love Disney and have the same eye color. Jakob said that he can handle Sam’s love of country music and loves eat at Mary’s Pizza Shack where Sam works.

As members of blended families, they have several other siblings: from oldest to youngest, they are Mitchell Russell, Jenny Russell, Sam Russell, Sam Burzynski, Jakob Burzynski, and Steven Connaughton.
