Varsity Softball Spotlight – Isabella Roxas

Isabella Maryann Soriano Roxas is a star player on the varsity softball team. She plays a key role as the starting catcher and an inspirational teammate. Izzy has played softball ever since she was three years old. Her parents enrolled her into a “Bobby Sox” softball team. She was the youngest on the team while everyone else was 5 or 6 years old. It gave her “an extra head start than other players.” Izzy enjoys “meeting and getting to know new teammates and making friendships.”

However, playing all year long is “very tiring and requires a lot of time and dedication.” Her mom and dad are her role models. Izzy says, “My siblings always push me to be the best player and person on the field.” The Armijo team has not gone to playoffs while Izzy has been here. She has won plenty of playoffs with her traveling team all over the country.

Izzy is also involved in wind ensemble, tennis, and Honor Society. She is a member and section leader of the Armijo Super Band in which she plays alto saxophone. She hopes to attend UCLA and study in the medical field. For people looking to join a sport Izzy says, “Sports require hard work and dedication. It’s going to be difficult at first, but you are rewarded in the end.”
