On Friday, May 26, several of our athletes competed at the Section Masters meet in Elk Grove trying to finish in the top three of their event and qualify for the state meet. We were wildly successful with a few individuals and a relay team traveling to the state meet later this week. The state qualifiers are:

Boys:

1600m (mile)- Luis Grijalva 1st place

3200m (2 mile)- Luis Grijalva 2nd place

800m – Nixon McKenzie 3rd place

Girls:

200m – Sarahvaughn King 1st place

400m – Sarahvaughn King 1st place

4x400m relay – 2nd place team of:

Lovenie Dantes

Deajanea Duncan

Sarahvaughn King

Lindsey Ona-Alternate

Leila Walton-Alternate

Nixon, a sophomore, is ranked 13th in the state in his event, Luis is in the top three in each of his events, the girls 4×400 is ranked in the eighth in state and Sarahvaughn is tenth in the 400m meaning that they all have a great chance of making it into the State finals on Saturday, June 3.
