Hands-on education changes everything.

Schools have traditionally been the same for generations, but in 1907, Maria Montessori created a teaching style that has been practiced around the world for over 100 years.

Maria Montessori was an Italian physician and educator who lived from 1870 to 1952. She was the first woman in Italy to earn a medical. According to Montessori space, Montessori received a degree in medicine from the University of Rome and started working as an assistant in psychiatry at the same university. There she was inspired to study special needs children and immediately realized that their problem was education not medical.

She is most popular for her development in the Montessori method of education, which is child-centered learning with deeper understanding of subjects that would be taught in most schools, individualized instruction for each age group from infants to adolescence, and hands-on activities that supports children’s natural development while providing skills to reach their full potential in life which is specified by the official website of the Association Montessori International (AMI).

Maria Montessori’s most significant accomplishment is her establishment of the Montessori Method of education, but she also wrote numerous articles and books on education and child development. Some of her most famous books include The 1946 London Lectures and The Absorbent Mind, according to monti kids. Despite being so successful in her education method, Montessori faced challenges throughout her career and was often met with resistance from traditional educators that were skeptical of her methods. She also faced opposition from people who thought women should not be involved in the planning aspects in the field of education.

To this day, Maria Montessori’s ideas of education challenge a traditional education. She highlighted the importance of child-centered and hands-on learning and her methods continue to impact the field of education. Those methods have influenced many educators and schools around the world, making her an important figure in the history of education.
