If you’re looking for a sign about reading a good book, this might be it.

Zodiac, written by Romina Russell, is the first of a Science Fiction series about a young 16-year old girl named Rhoma Grace from House Cancer. A violent blast strikes the moons of Cancer, killing thousands of citizens including its beloved Guardian. Rho is surprisingly named Cancer’s new guardian, and she accepts. Then, when more Houses fall victim to freak weather catastrophes, Rho starts seeing a pattern in the stars. She suspects Ophiuchus—the exiled 13th Guardian of Zodiac legend—has returned to exact his revenge across the Galaxy. Now Rho—along with Hysan Dax, a young envoy from House Libra, and Mathias, her guide and a member of her Royal Guard—must travel through the Zodiac to warn the other Guardians.

I usually do not tend to enjoy sci-fi stories; I lean more towards romance or psychological thrillers, but Zodiac surprised me. I found myself enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would. I also felt like Rhoma was a very relatable main character for many teenagers. I also really enjoyed the parts about the astrological signs, just because I am a huge lover of the zodiac.

I did not finish the book, just because I didn’t have enough time, but I will probably end up picking it up again after I finish with the books on my TBR. Reviews say that there is a love triangle in this book, so if you are a lover of romance and fantasy I would definitely recommend this book to you!

The book is the first in a series of four; all of which are about Rho. The other books are Wandering Star, Black Moon, and Thirteen Rising.
