Dancing, singing and set-work ready to be decided.

Are you interested in the performing arts? Then you are in luck! While the fall play Crush has passed, the Armijo Theatre Production group is getting ready to produce The Addams Family. There are 10 featured roles and 10 ensemble roles, not including the possibility of double casting and understudies. If you’re not interested in auditioning for a role, there are other positions such as stage managers, stage crew, prop masters, light operators, sound operators, build/paint crew, publicist, and more.

Potential performers should prepare a 30-second to 1-minute cut of a song for the auditions, which are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, December 13. There will not be a pianist at auditions, so students should find a karaoke track of their song online with a link to share.  The chosen song should be something the student is comfortable with and feels confident singing, while also highlighting their best qualities (can hit high notes, can be comedic while singing, can use character voices, etc.).

Students may also be asked to do a cold read, where they will be given a page from the script and read through the scene aloud with someone from the audition panel. There will also be a short movement piece (like a short dance) to one of the songs from the musical. It will be taught at the beginning of the audition and students will perform it for the panel in small groups. Because of the flexibility expected, students are encouraged to wear comfortable, but nice clothing.

Sign-ups will be sent via email and auditions are scheduled for Tuesday, December 13, after school in the cafeteria. There may be a possible call back on Thursday, December 15. For more information, students can attend the weekly club meetings on Wednesdays during lunch in T2, or attend the Musical Audition Workshop after school on Wednesday, November 30 from 2:40 – 3:30.
