Ten years ago, the world was in love with a book called Wonder by R.J. Palacio. In 2017, it became a popular movie, starring Bryce Gheisar as Julian.

Gheisar came back to play Julian in White Bird, a Wonder Story, a film that was first released as a graphic novel written by Palacio in 2019. Both films were directed by Marc Forster and filmed in the Czech Republic.

White Bird, a Wonder Story revisits Juilian who was struggling to fit in just about anywhere, especially after he had been expelled from school because of the way he treated Auggie Pullman (Jacob Tremblay in Wonder), a former classmate who has Treacher Collins Syndrome, or TCS. He learns the story of his grandmother (Helen Mirren) as she struggled through her childhood learning about how to be human. The movie also features Ariella Glaser as Sara, and Gillian Anderson as Vivienne.

It was deeply moving and mostly belongs to the war/drama subgenre. Both of these touching films are about overcoming challenges in life. This movie was extremely enjoyable, and I would definitely recommend it to anybody who hasn’t seen it. No matter what you experience, everything will work out for the best in the end. With its emotional story, beautiful songs, and talented performers, this movie is a real treat.

The movie runs 2 hours and 2 minutes long and can be seen on Roku, according to Roku.com. It will likely be available on other platforms, including Starz, early next year.
