A love of writing drew Ayleth to pursue journalism.

I joined journalism for one reason and one reason only. I love writing, although recently I’ve had some difficulty staying focused in both school and most, importantly, my writing.

When I first started writing I was about 10 years old. I loved writing books and short stories. I would pretend to write movie reviews after watching them and would send them to all my friends.

When I was 13 I watched the show Gilmore Girls for the first time and fell in love with the character of Rory Gilmore because I related to her and her love for reading and writing. When she went to her new school she was quick to join the newspaper committee and I couldn’t wait to be able to experience that myself when I went to high school!

The summer before my freshman year I found an email from Ms. Herring asking me to sign up for the Armijo Newspaper and I jumped for joy! I was so excited and signed up for my first official book review (I believe) and wrote it right away. But when school actually started, I became busier and did not have time to read books, watch movies, or write, so I took a break.

When I found out I had Journalism as my fourth period this year, I was so excited because now writing was MANDATORY! Although I’m not too good at getting things in on time (mostly because I’m always way too stressed with the rest of my school work) I do enjoy this class and still have the same love for reading and writing that I had when I was 10!

Hopefully my schedule will become less stressful and I will finally have time to do what I love the most, write!
