Other important characteristics about me

Looking back at my freshman self, I still haven’t lost my dweeby charisma and over enthusiasm, I have definitely grown as a person. Iā€™ve learned how to express my ideas confidently. Iā€™ve learned to not be afraid to talk to people and ask for their opinions and Iā€™ve learned to take others into consideration. As an armijo student, Iā€™m an active member in the leadership program and runner for the cross country and track team. As my junior year comes to an end, Iā€™ve encountered the position as sophomore class president, junior class president and wish to someday hold a position as one of your class of 2018 ASB officers. Being a part of this program has helped me grow into the person i am today and iā€™d love to inspire others in the same way (whether you’re in the program or not).
How do you plan to stay connected to students to make sure their voices are heard?

Something i found really useful that we used this year was twitter and communication through student email. Twitter polls are always easy and a survey could be sent out through the student email for students who can’t access twitter. Feedback, and ideas would always be welcome in those platforms. An inbox where people could write down ideas would be available during any sign up tables during lunch. This way, you could write your ideas down and give it us through hard copy.
What in your opinion are the three most important issues facing students at Armijo High School and how will you address them?

Lack of motivation to join/participate in events
Connect with multiple groups in the school such as various clubs
Target large groups of people with different interests
Create memorable experiences for not just leadership students, but outside students too
Making new students feel welcomed
Have the leadership program take a bigger role in freshman orientation and also encourage other clubs to do the same
welcome new kids that transfer to armijo by taking them a tour/give them a student(s) mentor for a day
Division between Programs
Create an event that invites other armijo programs such as band, rotc, clubs and sports
Would be held in the beginning of the year as an act of ā€œcommencementā€ or ā€œwelcomingā€ to the new school year
All armijo programs should feel a sense of togetherness and unity, instead of division and rivalry
Soap in the bathrooms šŸ™
What are your top priorities for the position you will hold?

One of my top priorities for the position is to make students feel welcomed both in the leadership program and in different programs. Compared to when i first walked in armijo, Iā€™ve personally developed a more positive mindset and better view of armijo high school. I wish to be an example for lower classmen by showing them to love their school and to not be afraid to be themselves. I wish to remind upperclassmen of their short time left and to enjoy the rest of it. Finally, i wish to work hand in hand with the entire student body to create experiences that will positively impact all classes, in preparation for whatever comes next in their future.
