CD Review: Do You See the Falling Leaves? by Broen

This band has a unique sound.

Have you considered trying out new music? Every now and then I gather up some albums and take some time to listen to them. This week I listened to the album Do You See the Falling Leaves? by a band named Broen.

The five members of the band first got together in the early 2010s and are still going strong.

You might be wondering, Broen? What kind of group name is that? Well, broen means bridge in their native tongue and that’s how they came up with it. The band comes from Norway.

The album Do You See the Falling Leaves? came out in 2019 but this isn’t the band’s first. In 2017 they produced their first studio album named I <3 Music and that’s where they grew their popularity. Broen has over 1,000 monthly listeners according to Spotify and their biggest hit is “You (Detective)”.

Based on listening to some of their work, I would consider their genre to be somewhat jazz, but there were some moments where I felt a tiny bit of rhythms and blues. One moment I felt groovy and the next I felt a burst of sadness. If I had to decide if they were ‘old school’ or ‘new school’, it would definitely be in the old school option. Right off the bat I noticed many instruments playing such as the drums and the keyboard.

Although some artists’ albums have a well written story line to them, this one did not include one.

Overall I would give this album a 6/10. It personally wasn’t my favorite album of all time but it definitely has some potential. I would consider listening to more of their music for sure, but for right now I suggest you take time to see what they have in planed for you
