Water Polo requires, strength, endurance and disciplined breathing techniques.

Almir Khan chose to go into Water Polo because, at the beginning of his freshman year, he was really lonely.“But when I joined I literally met the best people ever,” he said. “They were like family.

“I want the freshman to push themselves and try out new things because you never know what great people you will meet in your life,” he said. “Once you join, never give up! At first it'll seem harder but it’s the people; it’s the team that keeps and gets you going.”

This is his second year on the team and, like many of his team mates, he plans to be part of the Swim team in the spring. But for Water Polo, he likes to show off his strength. “I mostly love playing as offense because it makes me feel like I’ve got so much power over that ball,” he said. While he plans to play throughout high school, he’s not sure if he’ll play in college.

One of his most memorable games last year was Senior Night. “The game was very emotional because I’d made such good friends with them and it was just sad seeing them go,” he said.
Khan considers his mother as his role model. “She’s a very hard-working person and honestly, she makes me do good,” he said.

Among those good things she makes him do is strive for a future. He enjoys editing as a hobby and hopes to see himself at San Francisco State University in the future.
