Track team prepares to improve through the season.

The track meet on Wednesday, March 16, was a great opportunity for the Royals to get some more work in against the other schools in the League. While Armijo did not come away with the win, there were some fantastic performances to highlight:

On the Varsity Girls’ front, Cierra Kinsey (Public Safety Academy, or PSA), Egypt Hughes, and Anistecia Kinsey (PSA) went 1, 2, 3 in the 100-meters AND 200 meters. In addition, those three, plus Sanai Wilson, won the 4x100m relay in a time of 50.82 seconds which puts them in 1st place overall in Division 3 for the section!

On the Varsity Boys’ side, Evan Wortham took second place in the 200m, losing a close one at the end.

The Armijo athletes are putting in so much work at practice it is great to see them beginning to have success and the Royals have some much more time to improve before MELs (Monticello Empire League) and the postseason.

As for upcoming meets: Friday and Saturday, March 18 and 19, the distance runners will be competing at the Dublin Distance Fiesta in Dublin, and the next League meet is at home Wednesday, March 23 vs Vanden.
