The new album brings back old memories.

Red (Taylor’s Version) is the long-awaited rerecording of Taylor Swift’s fourth studio album Red. If you don’t know why Swift is rerecording some of her earlier music, I encourage you to research why. Long story short, what she is doing ensures that she actually gets the credit for the music she made. This album was released on November 12, 2021 and got 90.8 million streams in its first day.

Stand out songs (personal favorites): “State of Grace”, “The Lucky One”, “Nothing New” (ft. Phoebe Bridgers), “I Almost Do”, “The Moment I Knew”, and “All Too Well” (10-minute version)

The song “All Too Well” unintentionally became a favorite among fans and to Swift as well, since the 2012 release of the original album. This song and many others are rumored to be about her 2010 relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal. Since then, there has been an alleged original ten-minute version of “All Too Well” that was unreleased by Swift. With the announcement of the Red rerecording, Swift announced that this ten-minute version would be included. Naturally, fans freaked out and could not wait to hear the song for the first time. I encourage you to take ten minutes, give the song a listen and get a glimpse of the raw emotion Swift put into the album.

With the re-recorded albums, vault tracks – which are songs that were cut from the original album – are included. Red has nine vault tracks. Among these songs, there are features from Phoebe Bridgers, Ed Sheeran, and Chris Stapleton.

The songs range from country pop, like the infamous “22” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”, to acoustic ballads like “Sad Beautiful Tragic” and “Treacherous”, to just good vibes like “Stay Stay Stay” and “Holy Ground”. There is truly a song for everyone. The entire album is over two hours long, which is one of the longest albums I’ve seen, but it is worth every second.

“All Too Well: The Short Film” was also released on November 12 and it is available on YouTube at https://youtu.be/tollGa3S0o8. Make sure you always listen to Taylor’s version of these songs.
