The genre and aesthetic of Indie are portrayed in their own way but have some similarities that make them “indie”. You might’ve heard the term passed around in movie and music labels, but do you know what it means?

Typically, “indie” is just the shorthand version of “independent” because the recording process was done without a record label or production company.

They belong under this umbrella term because they create rock ‘n’ roll music that independent record labels release. Indie pop is surfacing as the aesthetic gives off independence and freedom vibes for many teenagers.

An indie film can be short or long and any genre- the only requirement it needs to pass is that it doesn’t come from a major studio or big production company. It’s truly art for directors and filmmakers to be able to create something good that tells the story of the characters from a low budget.
