Teamwork brought on wins at both levels.

Varsity (1-6-0): The Armijo Royals had solid game play on Thursday night. The San Leandro Pirates came out strong and Armijo met them head on. We managed to get the first two goals at two minutes into half and then again five minutes in. Both goals were scored by Junior Diego Torres.

San Leandro was able to take advantage of some poor decisions on our account that led them to their PK goal at about half way through the first half. The Armijo boys started to find their rhythm and connect passes again which lead to a solid goal by Senior Captain Andy Rodriguez Figueroa with three minutes left in the game.

Not to be out done by his counterpart, Senior Andy Diaz was able to drop a beautiful goal in the last two minutes right over the keeper. This ended us with a score of 4-1 at half and only a few things to discuss and clean up for the second half.

The Royals came out ready and with a clear plan on what we need to do to hold strong and keep going. Junior Esteban Carcamo was able to slip through their defense less than a minute into the game and score. San Leandro was back strong and were very close to getting a couple more goals but Senior Keeper Cristian Cerino was able to hold down the goal. Play got a little rough with several cards back and forth to both teams but Armijo was able to collect themselves and gain another goal with 12 minutes left by Junior Defender Jorge Rodriguez from P.S.A.

Armijo was fouled at about the 10 minute mark, giving Torres another shot for a goal which was blocked but he was quick to follow up on the ball and then sink the shot for his third goal of the game. He still had one more in him though and was able to sink one final fourth goal in the last five minutes of the game.

Coach Flores look forward to seeing what the boys bring to league play in January with all they have learned over these past seven pre-season games. It has been full of ups and downs but we have come so far in these last several weeks.

Junior Varsity (JV) (1-3-2): Game started off going both ways as Armijo was looking for a goal early. Freshman goalie Abraham Martinez had some good saves in the first half to maintain it 0-0 into the half.

Sophomore Edwing Pacheco scored a great left-footed shot to make it 1-0. The momentum continued and sophomore Angel Murillo scored a goal after a great run to end it 2-0.

Armijo JV is continuing to gather pieces to have a full team and have chemistry to battle for league in January.
