If you’re looking for Joseph Pangelinan after school or on weekends, you can often find him jamming at Jamba Juice.

Pangelinan, who is currently a junior and juggling International Baccalaureate (IB) school work, started working at the shop on July 18, working four hours a day and earning $15 an hour.

With school in session, every week he typically works three weekdays and one or two weekend days, but there isn’t a designated schedule.  “Considering other jobs that are less and the amount of work that I do, I’m not complaining,” said Pangelinan.

The difficulty of balancing a job and IB for him on a scale of 1-10 is a 4 for now. He definitely loves his co-workers and shift leaders and enjoys working with them. “Sometimes I think about quitting and stuff, but then I realize all I do is make smoothies and there are other people who have harder jobs, like construction,” he said.

He actually is limited to making smoothies and doing some other tasks, and he has not been trained to do some of the other positions, especially being a cashier, although he is familiar with a variety of skills. Pangelinan and his co-workers do whatever needs to be done. “If we need to do something that needs to be done, then we’ll handle it and then we will just go from there,” he said.

His favorite smoothie to put together is the Mango-A-Go-Go because it’s the easiest one to make. “Jamba Juice is pretty much the only place I wanted to work at because I’m a healthy kind of guy, so everything around me, I want it to be healthy to an extent and that place provided that for me,” said Pangelinan.

While Pangelinan enjoys his job at Jamba Juice, he doesn’t plan to be there for life. He doesn’t have any special plans for after high school, but has the potential to do something incredible. But for now, he’s chilling at Jamba Juice, ready to make your order.
