The score is only part of the story.

On Friday, October 8, Vacaville High school beat our Royals 49-0 on the Varsity level and 66-0 in the Junior Varsity (JV) game. Despite these seemingly bad results, we feel that we can take some positives out of the performance.

The scoreboard read 0 points, but the Royals offense put together several long drives near the goal line. Small mistakes prevented the team from punching it into the end zone. Armijo’s second drive featured a 23-yard run from Keshaun Williams and a 34-yard pass connection between quarterback Eddie Concepcion and Kaiba Washington before they turned the ball over at the 4-yard line.

The Royals’ fifth drive had a 40-yard bomb from Eddie Concepcion to Cesar Torres before the drive ended at the 22-yard line. The following drive also had a deep pass connection from Concepcion to Dameion Regelado for 38 yards.
In the second half, the Royals’ defense held Vacaville to 0 points and only three first downs. Armijo’s defensive standouts for the night were Aaron Castro who had seven tackles and Jericho Johnson who tallied two tackles and constant pressure in the Bulldog backfield.
On Friday, October 15, Armijo will have the Homecoming festivities and a more balanced opponent in Will C. Wood. The coaching staff looks forward to seeing students, staff, and the community bring the energy to help Armijo win the first league game; JV kicks off at 5:15 pm and Varsity kicks off at 7:30 pm.
