Schedule of events keeps Breast Cancer in the spotlight.

Over the summer, the Associated Student Body (ASB) panel was trying to come up with different events to spotlight different groups and we decided to add Breast Cancer Awareness Week, which will take place October 4 – 8. Many of the events we do spotlight groups on campus, but this also gives us a chance to support the community.

During the week we will be holding various activities during lunch, including making bracelets to wear at the Pink Out game Friday, October 8, and motivational posters / writing letters to support people in our community affected by breast cancer. We will also be advertising our Pink Out Packs for sale which contain pink swag and pink A-Team shirts for the Pink Out volleyball (10/7) and football games (10/8), both vs. Vacaville High School.

There will be pink cups in every classroom for our Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser, and the proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Donors will receive a ribbon where they can write their names and attach it to the painted Breast Cancer Awareness backdrop provided by Leadership.

We welcome clubs to participate in the lunchtime activities and if they want to plan any activities or have any ideas, the Leadership class would be happy to assist them. Any group interested should contact Mariyam Oladele at [email protected].

People don’t need to sign up for anything specifically but it is highly encouraged that they wear pink to the Pink Out games on October 7 and 8. There will be a Stand Up to Cancer Moment of Silence at the Varsity football game where participants will honor and support loved ones affected by cancer.
