July through November is apple season and what better way to celebrate than picking your own farm grown apples. A variety of family owned orchards open their doors to the public for apple picking making for a fun day out. One in particular is EARTHseed Farm, located in Sebastopol. This farm is 14 acres of solar powered organic farm and incorporates African traditions in their operations. Besides there apples they grow pears, plums, guavas, and more. To visit their farm a scheduled appointment is necessary and an entry fee.

Not far from EARTHseed Farms is Chileno Valley Ranch, located in Petaluma. This ranch has over 20 varieties of apples and is open to the public for picking with a reservation.
