On August 21, the United Nations will observe the International Day of Commemoration and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism. This day is a major step forward in recognizing the victims of terrorism and their families.

According to There is a Day for That, the General Assembly of the United Nations declared that it would establish an International day of remembrance dedicated to promoting and protecting the rights of victims. While still struggling to have their voices heard, many victims of terrorism are also left feeling neglected once the event fades.

The primary responsibility for supporting victims of terrorism lies with Member States, which means that each area is responsible for recognizing and assisting the victims of terrorism. However, only a few countries have the capacity to provide long-term support to those who have been affected. That makes it even more important for people to not ignore victims of terrorism as they could still suffer from the events of it.
