Rest in peace, Tybalt.

On August 28, we remember the pets we’ve lost over the years and celebrate their lives with stories and memories.

Many people rely on pets for a source of support, comfort, and companionship. Losing a pet can be a heartbreaking experience but this day of remembrance we recognize how much we appreciated them.

The day was originally created by Blogger and Author Deborah Barnes. Barnes operated a blog where she shared stories and advice relating to all things cats. In 2013 her cat’s passing inspired this day of remembrance that could be celebrated by any pet owner. She published a book, Purr Prints of the Heart, addressing her process of heartbreak and letting go (Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day). Barnes was taken back by the response she received from the book as many pet owners related to her situation.

This Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, think about that special pet you miss and appreciate them for all they’ve done for you. You can celebrate by looking at old photos or sharing stories of your pet. You can share photos on social media as well using the #RainbowBridgeRemembranceDay and even see what others are posting about their loved pets.
