This is a week to be wonderful.

After learning of a young man dying in a boating accident in her hometown of Toms River, New Jersey, Lorraine Jara founded Be Kind to Humankind Week (BK2HK). It is a week all about being kind and putting others before yourself with different themes for each day. BK2HK runs from August 25 to 31 every year.

Motorist Consideration Monday is about being courteous and patient while on the road.

Try to make someone’s day brighter on Touch a Heart Tuesday. Give them a card, offer a compliment, or check in on someone you haven’t talked to in a while.

Willing to Lend a Hand Wednesday encourages helping and advising others. Volunteer, pick up trash and do chores around the house.

According to BK2HK.org, “Thoughtful Thursday is the perfect time to be mindful of those around you. Whether at home, at school or work, or in public, try to always be thoughtful and considerate to other people!”

If you have any enemies/frenemies, Forgive Your Foe Friday is the day to build a bridge with them. Find it in your heart to focus on positive thoughts and forgive yourself and others.

Despite the saying “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me,” words do hurt. So take Speak Kind Words Saturday to think before you speak and uplift someone instead of putting them down.

Sacrifice Our Wants for Others’ Needs Sunday is for taking time out of your day to help someone else. To participate, donate money to a charity, volunteer, or aid someone in need of help.

While Be Kind to Humankind Week is the perfect time to practice kindness, it is important to be kind to everyone every day.

Use #BeKindToHumankind or #BK2HK to spread the word.
