Celebrate freedom whenever you hear about it

Juneteenth – June 19

The end of slavery was a huge milestone in the history of America. As can be expected, that day is commemorated by a special day. Juneteenth, also called Juneteenth Independence Day, or Emancipation Day, celebrates the end of slavery of June 19, according to Britannica.

As The New York Times says, even though slavery was officially over in the U.S. on January 31, 1865, it wasn’t until the following June 19 when enslaved African-Americans in Galveston, Texas, were told they were free.

There are several ways to celebrate Juneteenth. One of the most important is to recognize our freedom by staying positive, even as we’re still recovering from the worst of the pandemic. Staying positive attracts more people to the idea of celebration, and helps to inform people who might not otherwise participate on Juneteenth.

If you consider yourself a creative person, you could create something with your family, or friends.

Since Juneteenth is a holiday that inspires people to remember the past and push forward for a better future, you might feel inspired to create a lasting memorial that celebrates the holiday and the freedom it represents.
