Take a memory and keep it forever.

The North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) and many other photographers observe Nature Photography Day on June 15. Each year NANPA promotes the enjoyment of nature photography and explains how images are used in advance to help conservation efforts, and also protection of plants, wildlife, and more.

In 2006, NANPA celebrated their very first Nature Photography Day and now it is a well-known National Day around the world. NANPA helped guide the way for many people, and helped them grasp the importance of nature in pictures. Nature Photography Day is promoted through national news organizations and newspapers, as well as hashtags on social media.

The natural world is full of gorgeous things and this day allows photographers to capture and embrace them, and one of the best places to do that is at a National Park. In California, we have nine of those, and there are 423 National Parks throughout the United States. These parks span across more than 84 million acres and are kept protected. While you can’t go to every single National Site in the world, we have plenty of beautiful ones near us: Channel Islands National Park, Redwood State Park, Jedidiah Smith Redwoods State Park, Yosemite National Park, Muir Woods, Mount Lassen National Park and many more.

Take a day or take a trip; go camping and bring a camera to capture the real beauty and preserve it. Spread awareness through social media and whether you visit a national park for a camping adventure or just step into a botanical garden in Benicia (bsragarden) , or visit the beach, lake, or a river, you can participate in this event and capture a memory.
