Encourage and celebrate the strong on the journey.

Since 1988, National Cancer Survivors Day has been celebrated annually on the first Sunday of June. This year, that day lands on June 6.

According to ncsd.org, Merril Hastings announced the first National Cancer Survivors Day during the second national conference meeting of the National Coalition for Cancer Survivor-ship in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 20, 1987. It is a day to celebrate the victories and challenges of dealing with one of the most destructive diseases worldwide.

One way to celebrate this day, whether you know a cancer survivor or not, is to share the information with others and bring awareness to your social circle. If you own any social media, you can spread the hashtags, “#CancerSurvivorsDay or #NCSD2020.”

If you know someone who is a cancer survivor, you can honor them by sharing their story.
