A world of color and scent can be found in a field.

National Wildflower Week, which annually starts on the first Monday of May, allows us to appreciate nature in itself. We admire the colorful flowers and blossoms that bring our landscape to life. We observe the mix of colors and the power each of these blossoms hold.

Wild flowers alone help reduce erosion and help us conserve water. Along those lines, they help support birds and bees. They attract any pollinators and help create a great environment for birds. (www.wildflower.org)

“This week-long celebration was started by the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, Texas. As Johnson once said, wildflowers ‘give us a sense of where we are in this great land of ours.’ Regardless of your location, we recommend celebrating National Wildflower Week by planting (or planning to plant) wildflowers on your property.” (AmericanMeadows.com)

This week alone allows us to see the beauty in the little things and allows us to appreciate more of the world we live in. It allows us to find some good amongst the chaos with our current circumstances right now in a pandemic. To participate, all you have to do is take a nature walk through fields of flowers. Observe each flower; see the different colors, species, or shapes.
