First you learn, then you teach.

National Education and Sharing Day was established by United States Congress in honor of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson (1902 – 1994). “President Jimmy Carter first inaugurated this day on April 18, 1978, by President Jimmy Carter and the presiding U.S. President proclaims the day annually….  It acknowledges his efforts for education and sharing for Jews and non-Jews alike.” (National Day Calendar)

This National Day is annually celebrated four days before Passover, which is the Rebbe’s birthday, according to the Jewish calendar. This year, it is on March 24, and celebrates the opportunities for a better education for all Americans. In his lifetime, the Rebbe was an advocate for children and spoke about the need for each child to be given an education that would offer them opportunities to succeed. (Wikipedia)

This day is celebrates the hard work, service and commitment to learning. The goal of National Education and Sharing Day is to put greater emphasis on the promotion of fundamental human rights, which are the basis of any human society.

“The Rebbe called for local governing bodies and schools to join the call and attention given to this day, and to make a point out of it around the country and around the world, to the point, the Rebbe envisioned, it will become a nationally celebrated day, the same way Mother’s Day and Father’s day are celebrated”.
