Area 51, the U.S. secret military installation, is located at Groom Lake in the southern part of Nevada. Built in 1955, this base has been part of over a hundred conspiracy theories, including the idea that aliens surround the region and flying saucers are seen there regularly. Despite the confirmation that Area 51 is only used as a testing facility for flight, people continue to promote the unproven theories about life from other planets.
Nobody knows for sure what is going on at Area 51, due to the amount of privacy they try to hold onto for their military base. What goes on inside is extremely secret. Area 51 does not allow for the public to get near. They put up warning signs and have good surveillance around the area, although many have tried to invade the base.
A variety of people are convinced that Area 51 could possibly have flying saucers and aliens at the property and, while these myths have been debunked by the U.S military, people continue to believe them. Over 1,500 work there and none have ever confirmed any of the theories. Instead, they point to the history of its use as a testing facility, first for the Lockheed U-2 Spy Plane. The U.S. military continues to use Area 51 as a place for developing cutting-edge air craft.
In 2019, a Facebook post was created that encouraged a full-on raid of Area 51, promoted with the statement: “They cannot stop of us all.” It didn’t take long for the situation to go viral. Although there was a date set for the event and people made plans, the creator of the post claimed it was a joke and problems were minimal.
It’s not quite easy to gather much information or figure out what truly happens at this secret base in the desert because of how secretive and private the U.S military are with Area 51. The U.S. military has added onto the concept by saying that “the US Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets.”
