Winnie the Pooh and his friends have worked his way into our hearts over the years.
Grab your pot of honey because on January 18 we celebrate National Winnie the Pooh Day.
January 18 marks A. A. Milne’s birthday, the creator of Winnie the Pooh and the rest of the Hundred Acre Wood gang. Milne’s lovable bear was inspired by a bear at the London Zoo named Winnie. Milne’s son, Christopher Robin, loved visiting the bear so much he named his teddy bear after his favorite zoo bear (National Winnie the Pooh Day). From there Milne took to pen and paper and wrote the collection of friendship books in 1926 featuring Winnie the Pooh, Owl, Rabbit, and even Christopher Robin.
Disney ended up buying the rights to Winnie the Pooh in the 1960s. This transformed Winnie and the gang into the more modern version we know today. The characters also make appearances at the Disney theme parks across the world in attractions, meet and greets, and merchandise.
You don’t have to go all the way to the Disney Parks to see the Hundred Acre pals. They can be seen right from your home in a number of movies and cartoons.
