You can tell your teacher you read a book over the vacation!

Maybe this vacation isn’t one you want to spend reading deep literature. If you still want to get into the holiday spirit but don’t want to read page after page of grade-appropriate novels, maybe you can sit down with your younger siblings and read Judy Moody and Stink the Holly Joliday.

This children’s book was published in September 2008. In the book, Judy and her younger brother Stink are filled with excitement about the upcoming Christmas holiday. Judy has her Christmas list filled, but what Stink really wants for Christmas is snow.

Judy lives in Virginia where it hasn’t snowed in about 100 years. Luckily, Judy and Stink encounter their mailman who just happens to be Mr. Jack Frost. The kids end up believing that their own mailman can help them make it snow because they think he may know a few things about the weather. Oh, and he even looks like a jolly old elf. So who knows if Stink might actually get his wish granted?

Meanwhile both Judy and Stink take a part in their school’s annual program for the holidays. Her class decides to do a Hawaiian theme for Christmas, while Stink puts his own stamp on the event. It all makes for a very fun read.

Judy Moody and Stink the Holly Joliday is the perfect book choice for comedy lovers, and has a holiday spin to it with Christmas coming up as well.
