Key Club builds up volunteer opportunities.

When it comes to service and leadership, there is not better club to be part of than Key Club. Before the pandemic, and when it is possible, this club has given students a chance to become more active in the community in a positive way.

Last year, they participated in downtown and campus clean ups, as well as Breakfast with Santa. Between volunteering and fundraising for community events, students who participate in Key Club learn the joy of giving while increasing their contributions for college and job applications.

Around this time of year, it is easy to see ways we can volunteer, even during a pandemic. Key Club helps makes it even easier to volunteer with friends in an organized manner. Car washes, canned food collections and clean-ups are just some of the ways that students can help develop a positive connection to the community.

“Key Club is a branch of the Kiwanis Club and students can participate in Kiwanis long after they have graduated. The goal of Key Club is to participate in the weekly service events, whether by actively participating in the community or raising money or supplies to help with community-based organizations, like The Matt Garcia Foundation, the Contra Costa and Solano Food Bank, Produce Pipeline, and Girls on the Run Napa/Solano,” as stated in The Armijo Signal (https://cutt.ly/ehvZ8Ru).

When school was in session, the club was meeting on Wednesdays at lunch in G-3.

“Key Club allows participants to make a lasting impact on their community,” according to The Armijo Signal.
