The season can’t start soon enough for Soria

Isaiah Soria played soccer last year for the Armijo Royals, and he is looking forward to playing again, if the pandemic opens up the opportunity in the spring.

“I first got into soccer because my parents made me at age 3,” said Soria. “At the beginning I was just going just to go, but at age 13 I realized that this game is more than a game, it’s a lifestyle.”

He has been playing the sport for about 12 years, on club teams like Solano, Northbay Elite, and now Davis Legacy.

“I’ve won a couple of tournaments throughout my years, too,” he said.

Soria plays the position of Midfielder, both attacking and defensive. That was the same position his brother Greg played and he has learned a lot from his brother’s interests and passions. He said that he also learned a lot about patience on and off the field from his sister. But it’s been hard this year.

“The coronavirus definitely affected our season and my training a lot,” said Soria. “But now it’s getting better because we practice four times a week and we’re going to a tournament soon.”

Soria plans on continuing to play soccer after he graduates from Armijo. He hopes to attend either San Diego State or UC Davis, where he wants to study to become an engineer.

“Soccer has always been my sport so I don’t think I’ll be playing anything else,” he said.

At school, Soria’s favorite class is leadership, but at home he enjoys playing video games, and recently started watching a lot of Netflix.
