Angry Birds was created in 2009 and developed by Rovio Entertainment, but they only had enough money to make just one game. Rovio’s goal was to hit 100 million downloads and everyone thought he was crazy for it but then the game ended up hitting two billion downloads.

The designer was always one to draw animals, so he ended up drawing a bunch of birds with thick angry eyebrows and that is how Angry Birds was created.

In the original concept, a bird was to be tapped and then it would attack, but nobody had a clue what they were supposed to do. The developers realized that they had to add equipment and that’s how a slingshot was involved.

Thinking it was too simple, they tried multiple other things, but the slingshot was the easiest to be understood. Since the game seemed to be really easy, they thought of a plan to have enemies in the game. The easiest thing to design an enemy pig, and all they needed was a story to sum up everything. The story behind this game is focused on multi-colored birds trying to save their eggs from the enemies, green pigs.

Angry Birds became really popular and, according to https://www.engadget.com/, the developer was able to sell this simple game in 2010 for $20 million. It was released with Apple and, with just a small banner on the front page of the App-store, the game went viral.

There were eventually multiple versions of the game as well as films created that were worth about $1 billion. The original version of the game has since been discontinued.
