Art can be used to describe ones feelings in a beautiful way.

Art with a Purpose is a service-centered club that invites students interested in creating art to join. Meeting Mondays at lunchtime, this club organizes projects to promote art within the community, but also encourages projects outside the community, may involve people from foreign countries. For instance, the club takes part in the Memory Project, where club members make portraits of refugee children from different countries. These portraits are later presented to them. Art teacher Ms. Marita Redondo, the club adviser, said the portraits allow the children “to feel seen and provides a connection between our members and the children.”

The art projects range in size and there are several different activities to participate in. These activities are arranged by the club president, Hailey Mendelsohn. Club members sometimes have the opportunity to have their artwork on display in the Civic Center Library. Furthermore, members can participate in art competitions.

With various clubs going on at the same time, it may be hard to choose which one to join, but Art with a Purpose is one that not only focuses on art but on the community as well. The club can be joined via Google Meet. Contact Ms. Redondo for the link.
