Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, may be the start of the official shopping season, and Small Business Saturday is important to the local economy, but this year, Cyber Monday, the Monday after the Thanksgiving holiday, may have a more historic impact as people are social distancing.

On Cyber Monday, people shop online and companies offer discounts and deals across the United States. This year, it is on Monday, November 30. For most businesses, it lasts a twenty-four hours, although some offer pre-Cyber Monday deals and others include other specials for shoppers to explore.

Created by Ellen Davis of the National Retail Federation and Scott Silverman, Cyber Monday, also known as Blue Monday, made its debut on November 28, 2005, and became the biggest online shopping day of the year.

This day has become more popular than Black Friday and for the past two years. Cyber Monday has featured better deals online while Black Friday has offered some in-store deals that are better. Traditionally, shopping on Cyber Monday is aimed at gadgets while Black Friday shopping is for more expensive products.
