Greetings! World Hello Day is on November 21 this year, making it the 48th annual observation of the holiday. It was first introduced in 1973 to remind people about the importance of communication to preserve peace (World Hello Day). The day was made in response to the conflict of the Yom Kippur War between Egypt and Israel. Today, 180 countries participate in the celebration.

The main festivity is to say “Hello” to at least 10 people: family, friends, classmates, coworkers, complete strangers even. World Hello Day is about community and communication between people, no matter the borders between them.

Saying a simple greeting to someone opens the door to new relationships. It’s important to remind ourselves of the good in humanity, that you could make someone’s day by just saying Hello.

So, even if you can’t talk to 10 people face-to-face, remember to check on those you do know, and try to make them smile. We’re all in this together, no matter where we are.
