A new job means a regular paycheck.

Ziair McElvaine hasn’t worked long, but during COVID-19, a job at a restaurant can have its ups and downs. “I work at Little Caesar’s on Texas Street,” the Armijo junior said. “The job is pretty fun.”

The restaurant is set up to deal with the pandemic in a safe and efficient way. “There are stations like Pan Pick-Up where you pick up the pans. Then we have a station where you make the pizza,” he explained. “Other spots are the Landing, Cashier, Dishes and Sheet Outs.” All of these terms are used among the employees, but the divisions are designed to keep both the workers and the customers safe from the virus.

“I’m usually working at Landing, which is where you pick up the pizzas, slice them, box them and all of that,” he said.

McElvaine started working at the take-out restaurant sometime around the beginning of September and he usually gets a ride to work from his mother, but sometimes he walks. It’s a good job to have when having a job is a challenge, and McElvaine is proud of the work he gets to do.
