My name is Kayla Rhodes and I am the School News editor for 2020-2021.
I’ve been involved in journalism for three years. I started writing in my freshman year and served as People editor as a junior. Now, I am in my senior year.
Being School News editor is different from being People editor, but I’m getting into it. As School News editor, I have to wait for information about events and more. I hope we are able to go back to school soon so I can work with more stories in this new position.
Being an editor can be easy, but it is a lot of work sometimes, especially since we’re not meeting on campus right now. It is kind of hard writing stories because we have to get our information by emailing people instead of asking them questions in person, and having enough information can be challenging when people don’t respond. Hopefully, when we come back, all the writing and editing will be easier.
Besides serving as an editor for The Armijo Signal, I am also on the cheer squad for Armijo, and I started running track last year. That was fun, but I didn’t get to finish the season due to COVID-19. Hopefully I will be able to do the full season in 2021 because I really like running and I liked going to different schools and meeting new people.
