Movie lovers miss the Society for Cinematic Arts

The Society of Cinematic Arts was one of the clubs that was thriving a couple of years ago, but it closed the curtain, at least temporarily. It’s no longer a functioning club, “but if someone wants to start it up again, I’m happy to help,” said former adviser Ms. Megan Hill, English teacher. Ms. Hill enjoyed being the adviser while the club was active because she found the most fascinating part of the Cinematic Arts experience was editing.

The club hasn’t met for the last couple of years but, when they did, they would play a Kahoot at the end of each film that they watched, and they watched a variety of films

The students were the ones that determined which films were shown and when, within reasonable parameters. When the club was in its heyday, there were over 40 members.

With movie theaters restricted or closed, the potential for this club’s renewal is possible, but Ms. Hill is not ready to start it up again. If someone else is interested in being the adviser, she would be willing to help. “Let me know if you are interested in restarting [the club],” she said. In the meantime, film lovers can focus on movies at home.
