Gina Rodriguez is best known for her lead role as Jane in Jane the Virgin. However, many do not know she directs movies.

Gina Alexis Rodriguez-LoCicero is a Puerto-Rican actress and director. She is best known for her leading role in the Netflix series Jane the Virgin where she plays Jane Villanueva, a young girl who is dedicated to remaining pure until she is married but suddenly finds out that she has been artificially inseminated in a hospital mix-up and she is pregnant (and later a mother). The season ran from 2014 – 2019. She was eventually earning $60,000 per episode in her role, according to popbuzz.com.
Rodriguez was born on July 20, 1984 in Chicago. Before becoming the lead character in Jane the Virgin, she had guest appearances on some popular shows of the early 2010 like Law and Order and The Mentalist, as well as having a recurring role in the daytime drama The Bold and the Beautiful (Biography). While she was filming and directing episodes of Jane the Virgin, she continued to act, and then direct, on different projects, including Something Great (2019), Scoob! (2020) and more. She also directed episodes of Charmed (2019) and Diary of a Future President (2020).
While Rodriguez has done pretty well for herself over the last few years, she hasn’t always been idolized by her fans. In 2019, she shared an Instagram post of her singing along to a tune where the lyrics included the n-word, and cancel culture reactions began. Many of her fans perceived it as a racial slur and decided that they were no longer her fans. An apology did follow, but it was considered less than satisfactory.
Despite this setback, her career had continued to surge (vox.com). And she’s done all of this years before she even turned 40.
