At Work

At the beginning of July, Elias Meza Morales started working at Jack-in-the-Box. This is his Meza’s first job. He said that he felt the need to start working and was fortunate to find a location close to home.

For Meza, the best thing about working at this particular location is the connection he has with his co-workers. He said that he gets along with them and likes them a lot.

At Jack-in-the-Box he mostly cashiers in the drive thru, but he does know how to operate the equipment and service the dining room.

A lot of people visit the Jack-in-the-Box where he works, but he does have one regular customer who always orders the same meal, a meal he is familiar enough with to prepare as soon as she approaches his window.

Meza usually works four or five days a week, five to eight hours a day, and gets paid every two weeks. He tries to get scheduled for as many hours as he can, so if he is called in to work, he will usually accept the extra time. While he is saving some of his money, he also is able to pay for food and clothes. The money he saves is being used to complete a project where he is redoing everything in his room.

Meza has plans for his future, and learning the ropes in a new job and the benefits of having a disposable income is helping him recognize that the future has a lot of options for a person like him, someone who will go out and get what he needs.
