Whether you choose trendy sunglasses or make your own fashion, just be safe!

2020 has brought back many fashion trends from the ‘90s and Y2K era. Many clothing pieces, such as baggy jeans, bucket hats, and small handbags have found their way back to the top once again.

You may be wondering why these styles came back, and it could be because of the huge rise in thrifting. Our generation has made thrifting a fun and easy way to find cheap clothes and, with it, came the trendy fashion pieces.

Some fashion icons relevant to today are model Bella Hadid, singer Normani, and rapper J-Hope from BTS. Hadid has been seen sporting small handbags and tiny sunglasses, and has made a huge influence on making them popular again.

Normani was seen wearing heavily influenced Y2K clothes in her music video Motivation while J-Hope has collaborated with singer-songwriter Becky G to work on a song greatly inspired on the 2000s hit Chicken Noodle Soup. Inside the music video, both of them are wearing trendy fashions: tiny sunglasses, bucket hats, and baggy clothing.

Celebrities wearing these trends has naturally made our generation gravitate towards them. If you have TikTok, a popular social media app, you probably have heard the term “Alt TikTok” that describes a side of TikTok with a huge love for colors, fashion, and anything artsy. As a personal user of TikTok, Alt TikTok has increased my interest in fashion and made me want to change my entire wardrobe.

Often, clothes worn by those with a huge following make others lose interest as they are seen as basic or common, but everyone should be able to dress how they want, without worrying about whether they’d be bashed for it. Being “basic” shouldn’t make you want to shy away from wearing the clothes that express you. Knowing that these older fashions have come back, I wonder what other eras might rise to the top.

Do you have any fashion trends that you would like to see again?
