Remember those cute pictures that your parents collected over the years? The ones where you looked like you had just sneezed, or your hair was cut too recently to sit right? On September 10, we celebrate that day.

National School Picture Day recognizes the annual experience when a student gets to capture his or her school memories, but it has only been a “National” day since 2019. This Day, which is celebrated on the second Thursday of September, is sponsored by LifeTouch, a popular school photography company.

Getting schools pictures is a tradition, as is following the dress code. For most schools, students are allowed to wear skirts or shorts at the appropriate length, or they can wear pants. Vulgar clothing can prevent pictures from being taken or shared in the yearbook, but school Picture Day is generally mandatory for all students because of the yearbook and school ID cards.

Because of the pandemic, Armijo and at schools across the country have put school pictures on hold, which could create challenges to producing the yearbooks and IDs. If Armijo does decide to have a Picture Day on campus, it will be mandatory for all students to practice social distancing and bring a mask to the event, following all of the school’s safety protocols.
