Video games like this have provided distractions for the times.

With money being generally tight over the last couple of months and almost nowhere to go and let off some steam until recently, many of us are all in a situation of being bored, scared, or in denial about those two things. Of course we already know these things and promptly distract ourselves with the things that we love to do with TV shows, movies, animes, and, of course video games. I could recommend literally any game right now, maybe a fighting game, platformer, puzzle game, or maybe even some of the plethora of free RPGs that were made by edgy people that have talent, but I know about a game that anyone can like, mostly because it’s on all the current platforms, at least at the time of writing this.

The game in question is called Broken Age. Broken Age is a simple point-and-click game where you’ll do puzzles that are excuses for you to find out as much about the story as you can. Now, you’re probably thinking, “If the game is mostly just story, then why didn’t they just make a movie or TV show?” Well the answer is simple. With the game being only $15, you will definitely get more bang for your buck. And, it’s only slightly more expensive than buying a digital or DVD of a movie, but you can enjoy it repeatedly. But enough about that. Let’s talk about the actual game and the story that it wants to tell.

The game’s art style looks like it was literally pulled from a storybook. This helps support the games storybook-like narrative. As for the narrative itself, you play as one of two teenage characters: Vella, a girl that escaped from a ritual to be sacrificed to an HP Lovecraft like monster, and must find a way to get back home and kill the monster once and for all, or Shay, a boy on a spacecraft he does missions on, all of which were designed so even a child can complete them without a problem, until he finds out what has been going on outside of all his missions. Being a fairly cheap game with a great story and equally great humor, this game is a must buy that you should experience for yourself.
