Even though the event was cancelled, students can do their part in the community.

Back in the summer of 2019, when the Associated Student Body (ASB) officers were looking at ways to brighten the school year, they came up with the idea of having a week focused on cleaning up the Armijo campus, encouraging students to take pride in the appearance of the grounds in a variety of ways.

“The Campus Clean-Up was expected to be like a Spirit Week with different themed days throughout the week,” said Leadership adviser Mr. Casey Towner.

The event was originally scheduled for the week of April 20 – 24. “That week is Earth Week so we wanted to put together some themed days to clean the campus a bit,” Mr. Towner said.

Since the event was not scheduled to occur until the last half of April, committees had not yet been created before the school shut down on March 13. The plan was for student committees to plan and brainstorm the days as a class, an idea that may just have to wait until Campus Clean-Up Week 2021.
