Jack has had a lot of changes over the years.

When John “Jack” Curry was first elected secretary of his freshman class, he attributed action as his foundational key to all success. He spent “many hours drafting his speech, preparing a comprehensive plan for the year, and working with fellow students to gain support,” reporter Royce Guo shared in an October 2016 article for The Armijo Signal.

This year, Curry has been serving as an Associated Student Body (ASB) officer. Last spring, he had been chosen as Officer-at-Large, but earlier in the year he was reassigned as Treasurer. That means that he has been responsible for keeping track of the student budget, making sure that money is available and money is spent where needed.

Even in 2016, when he started this journey that ended – as all seniors’ year ended – with the COVID-19 shut-down, Curry knew where he was headed. He told Guo that he “that his best strengths as an officer are his outgoing personality and ability to communicate well,” and those strengths have carried him through the last four years.

Curry has done more than participate in ASB and Leadership. Over the years, he has also been a member of the Cross Country, a member of Key Club and more. As a freshman giving advice towards those who also manage busy schedules, he said, “Always make sure to balance your school work and outside activities.” That advice has helped him well into his senior year.

His goal for this year, as he shared in a June 2019 article was to” brighten up the campus and paint more murals… because it would make our campus more welcoming and inviting.” The legacy he is leaving behind for incoming students is just that, welcoming and inviting.
