The board game club earned its name on different levels.

The Pair o’ Dice Club is about playing board games and hanging out with friends.

Pair o’ Dice started two years ago and was hosted this year by Mr. Arbizu on Mondays and Thursdays at lunch in B-2. Sometimes, they would even meet after school on Thursdays to play games that might take longer than half-an-hour or where students were really motivated to challenge each other. Through playing games, students learned social skills, game techniques and strategies.

Mr. Arbizu teaches math, and sometimes during the club meetings he would give lessons on social deduction as students practiced with the board games. He makes learning fun and playing games gives students a chance to escape from reality.

This club is for anyone who likes to have a good time, and that likes to play board games. There were no membership requirements and students were encouraged to bring friends.

Serena Erickson joined the Pair o’ Dice Club because her friend was the president. “I wanted to hang out with her and have fun,” she said. Erickson would recommend this club to others because “it’s very fun and casual, and you can enjoy yourself, or if you need anywhere to go for lunch you are welcomed.
